OUR PROGRAM

Query 101 Workshop:
Let’s talk queries! The good, the bad, and the ugly. Our workshop will offer tips and templates geared toward shaping your writing into a lean, mean query machine.
We’ll discuss the dos and don’ts of query writing and show examples of how to implement that information. And we’ll introduce you to resources that will support your writing journey and provide valuable information toward honing your craft. Time to get those queries written, sharpened, and ready for agents.

OUR SPEAKERS

After traveling in Europe, Phylis Caskey returned to the university setting to study French and Fine Arts. Along the way, creative writing piqued her interest, but it wasn’t until her youngest child went to high school that she started writing seriously. Her love of all things Southern led to her debut novel, Skinny Dipping in Cane River, and her passion for French history contributed to her medieval series. When she isn’t writing, she is tramping the world with her husband, visiting their children, and looking up friends. She enjoys getting lost in a good movie, especially an Indie film, with a huge bucket of popcorn. She lives in Louisiana with her husband and their anthropocentric dogs.

Jennifer Moorhead lives in the swamps she writes about, riding horses, photographing landscapes, and futilely attempting to remove dog hair from her furniture. She is represented by The Knight Agency and currently has a thriller out on submission to editors. In addition to traveling to writers’ conferences like the Algonkian New York Pitch Conference, the Texas Writing Retreat, and the NOLA Written in the Stars Conference, she is a member of Mystery Writers of America and Writer’s League of Texas.
